The Rycote Windshield Kit # 4 is a complete modular microphone windshield system including the Rycote modular suspension mount, windjammer, windshield and necessary extensions. Suitable for shotgun microphones from 211mm up to 280mm in length. The windshield provides optimum protection against wind and the kit is a useful solution for those who do not already own a suspension mount or windjammer.

The Full Windshield Kit is the professionals' choice when maximum isolation from wind and handling noise is required.

This complete modular system can be configured to allow almost any microphone to be shock-mounted and provided with varying degrees of windshielding. Components may be ordered separately, or as one of a series of kits, which simplify the selection process for many common configurations.

A Full Windshield Kit is comprised of the following three main components: Modular Suspension, Modular Windshield and Windjammer.

The maximum length of this windshields is calculated by adding the length of the mic to 5 cm (for the XLR). This will ensure that the microphone is mounted centrally within the windshield, and not poking out into the end cap (dome) as this reduces the effectiveness of the windshield. The length of the windshield is referred to by it's body length. So if you took off the end caps, that is the body.

The suspensions provides complete isolation against handling noise and cable-borne noises, by supporting the microphone in a cradle arrangement using Lyre suspension webs.

The Windshield basket completely surrounds the microphone and its connector, sliding onto the Modular Suspension to provide up to 25dB of wind noise attenuation. This is the first layer of windshielding protection for your microphone.

Windjammers introduced by Rycote in 1987, are high quality synthetic fur covers, designed to fit perfectly over the Modular Windshield. They give an additional 10dB of wind noise attenuation. Fitted with a drawstring & toggle to allow snug and easy fitting. Full Windshield Kits, including zipped windjammers are also available on request.

Stereo Windshield kits are available to fit a wide variety of stereo pairs, single shank stereo microphones, and stereo capsule microphones.
